Briarcliff Congregational/Scarborough Presbyterian/Peekskill Presbyterian
2010 Project Relief Youth Group Mission Trip to New Orleans

It has been more than four years since Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast of Mississipi. With more than 40% of the original population and housing gone, and no more Federal aid available, New Orleans is still suffering from a lack of workers who can help get businesses back up and running because they have no place to live. The lack of safe and affordable housing is the number issue facing New Orleans today, and help from other communities is still needed. From February 14th to February 20th, fifteen high school students and ten adults from Briarcliff Congregational Church, Scarborough Presbyterian Church, and Peekskill Presbyterian Church will be going on a mission trip to help rebuild homes in the devastated areas of New Orleans.

This will be the third year that the Project Relief Youth Group will spend their winter break helping others. In order to help finance the past two trips, the group has conducted bake sales, raffles, Thanksgiving pie sales, Super Bowl Food sales, and a major dinner/dance/silent auction. They have sold Fair Trade coffee every two weeks of the winter months at an indoor farmer's market, and they have solicited donations from business, family and friends, raising a total of about $45,000. Because of their outstanding efforts and dedication, they are the proud

Recipients of the Westchester Association of Development Officers'
